Luke Lee Levengood, 80, of 2206 Prescott Road, Lebanon, died Monday, January 8, 2007, in the Lebanon VA Medical Center. He was the husband of Alice Bell Boyer Levengood with whom he was married to for 41 years. He was born August 19, 1926, in Kleinfeltersville to the late John and Alverta Spangler Levengood. He was a former maintenance supervisor for the Lebanon County Housing Authority for over 20 years, employed for 19 years at Wilbur Chocolate Factory in Lititz, and for five years at Alcoa. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Kleinfeltersville where he had served as Sunday school superintendent for 34 years and youth fellowship director. He was the director of the Heidelberg Township Community Vacation Bible for 29 years, volunteered with Historic Schaefferstown and was involved with the Senior Fellowship of Heidelberg Township. He organized the Levengood family reunions and was caretaker of the Levengood family cemetery in Berks County. He participated in soccer and baseball while attending Schaefferstown High School, and for many years he attended sporting events at Elco High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, as military police, a guard at the Nuremberg trial, and was a POW. Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters, Donna Horst, Newmanstown, Brenda, wife of Terry Wetzel, Schaefferstown; stepchildren, Richard, Husband of Patricia Boyer, Oxford, Edward, husband of Linda Boyer, Rexmont, James, husband of Teresa Boyer, South Carolina, Ilene, wife of Benjamin Schriver, Jonestown, Nancy, wife of Reginald Grossman, Lancaster; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 15 step-grandchildren; 23 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosena Wike Levengood; brothers, Jay Levengood, Paul Levengood, Mark Levengood; sisters, Ruth Wagner, Esther Behney; and step-son, Robert Boyer Jr. Funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. from Trinity United Methodist Church, Kleinfeltersville. Interment in the Kleinfeltersville Cemetery. Friends may call Friday 6 to 8 p.m. at the Clauser Funeral Home, North Carpenter Street, Schaefferstown. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Trinity UM Church, Kleinfeltersville, PA 17039; or Lebanon VA Medical Center Hospice Unit, 1700 S. Lincoln Ave., Lebanon, PA 17042; or Historic Schaefferstown, Box 307, Schaefferstown, PA 17088.
