Funeral Services for William Rogers, who died on Wednesday, April 1, 1931, in the home of his son Rufus Rogers, of Abo, were held last Thursday afternoon, in Crossroads Church, Rev. Mr. Brazher, of the Baptist Church Officiating. Interment was in Crossroads Cemetery. The pallbearers were: John Crocker Jr., Charlie Crocker, Gordon Hoke, George Woods, Bill Lewis, and Bedford Cansler.

William Rogers was born May 15, 1840, and died April 1, 1931 at the age of 90 years, 10 months, 15 days. He was a Civil War veteran, enlisting in 1861. In 1866, he was united in marriage to Miss Nettie Jennings. To this union were born four children. She died in 1872 and in 1874, he was married to Nancy Jenning. To this union were born eleven children. She died September 21, 1909. In 1911, he was married to Mary Rector, who died January 1922.

He is survived by 10 children: Claude of Lebanon, Rufus and Lloyd of Abo; Mrs. Dick Rippy and Mrs. Dan Lillard Drynob; Mrs. Joe Reid of Abo; Mrs. Rosa Lewis of Gid, Arkansas; Mrs. Dora Sumner of Guion, Arkansas; Mrs. Josie Sumner of Lunenburg, Arkansas; and Mr. Tobe Rogers of Arkansas; 48 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and a host of friends also mourn his death.
