Benjamin was a participant in the war of 1812. He and his wife, Sarah (Silkett) Chilcutt were the parents of five children. Both, natives of Hardy County, Virginia, now West Virginia ; they moved to Fairfield County Ohio around 1815; where they settled in Greenfield Township. According to Hardy County records, Benjamin Stover was married to Sarah Silkett September 6, 1813 by Josiah Hoskinson.

In the census of 1820, Benjamin's children: one female and two males under 10 and one female 10-16. By the census of 1830, Benjamin was in Violet Township, with children: one male and one female under age 5, one female under 10, two males age 10-15. In 1840 the census records children: one male & one female 10-15, one male and one female 15-20 and one male over 20.

He was married second to Rebecca Molen in Fairfield County, Ohio. She was born 1802 in Ohio.

On January 7, 1847, Benjamin purchased seven and one half acres if land in Violet township from Alfred McVeigh, Fairfield County Treasurer for the cost of back taxes. This property being in the N. E. corner of section 25, township 16, range 20 (Violet Township). Benjamin and Rebecca Stover are in Violet Township in 1850. That is the last record that has been found to date of Benjamin or Rebecca. Baskins History of Delaware County says that Benjamin moved to Berlin Township in 1856 (apparently with George and his family) and lived there until he died. There is no record of this, however Benjamin Stouth died in Berlin Township May 5, 1860, age 66 and was buried in Blockhouse Cemetery. The 1860 Mortality Schedule gives his cause of death as liver complaint. The last name is clearly written on this index as "Stover" not Stouth". The DCGS tombstone reading for Blockhouse Cemetery lists "..... min Stouth, top of the stone broken off". There is no other record of a Stouth family in Delaware County, so the assumption can be made that this is the grave of our Benjamin Stover.
