Rodney David Baldwin, 60, of Renton, Washington, formerly of Forsyth, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2006, after a prolonged illness.

Rodney was born March 6, 1946, the son of Rodney Allen Baldwin and Alice Louise Horsman Phillips in Los Angeles, Calif., on Hollywood and Vine.

Rodney's family and friends will always remember him for his loving and gentle manner.

Rodney attended schools in LeRoy, Wykoff and Rochester, Minn. The family moved to Montana around 1956 and Rodney graduated from Forsyth High School in 1964.
After graduation, Rodney moved to Billings and worked at Pierce Packing and was also a cook at the Northern Hotel.

While in Billings, Rodney married Ida Mae Morris, they had three children, Steven Leroy Baldwin and Christine Louise Baldwin, both of Renton, and Wendy Lynn Fountaine of Auburn, Wash.

Rodney moved to Renton where he worked and ultimately retired as a mechanic for Phillips 66 in Issaquah, Wash. He owned and operated his own gas stations at different times and for a short time owned a tavern in Seattle.

Rodney had a love of cars and was often requested by name due to his knowledge and expertise for car repairs. He could always be found with a car hood open and all his tools at hand ready for whatever challenge was ahead. He loved to tinker and fix things.

Rodney was also a great kidder and was always playing tricks on his sisters and buddies. He had a heart as big as the world and anyone who benefited from his generosity would attest to that.

Rodney loved music and anything electronic.

Rodney was dedicated to his children and grandchildren. No matter what the circumstances he would always have an open heart for them.

Rodney is survived by his three children, Steven Leroy Baldwin and Christine Louise Baldwin, both of Renton, and Wendy Lynn Fountain of Auburn, Wash.; two grandchildren, Brendy and James Fountaine of Auburn; his mother, Alice Phillips of Forsyth; three sisters, Roxane (Tony) Hepker of Choteau, Beverly (Jack) Nile of Forsyth and Denise Faber of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one brother, Jerry Caflisch of Fort Smith; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Rodney was preceded in death by his father, Rodney Allen Baldwin of Forsyth; his grandparents, Alvah and Rovelia Horsman of Spring Valley, Minn.; and Fred and Grace Baldwin of Hudson, Iowa.
