Believed to have been born in Virginia. Married William L Cummings on April 9, 1818 near Lexington, Rockbridge county, Virginia.
Note: William died in 1844 and was the seventh burial in what was to become Old Fairfield City cemetery. His exact burial plot was not marked with a headstone or otherwise documented. Due to the decay of the cemetery in the 1860's if he did have a headstone or marked plot it was overgrown with brush and trees. Therefore his burial there is unmarked and specifically unknown.
Sarah was buried in Evergreen Cemetery in a plot that was owned by her son Samuel A Cummings. However, her engraved DOD of 1885 is not correct. As pointed out in the finding of her death notice below, she died in 1884.

DEATH OF MRS. SARAH CUMMINGS.....At her house, and the home of her son Samuel, three miles east of Fairfield, Friday, Sept. 5, 1884, aged 90 years 8 months and 9 days.....Funeral services were held at the house Sunday afternoon by Rev. T. D. Ewing, and at four o'clock her remains were interred in the Evergreen Cemetery. .....William L. and Sarah Cummings came to this county from Indiana in the fall of 1843. Mr. Cummings died Sept. 4, 1844.....There were eight children born to them, seven of whom are now living. In 1846 she removed with her family to the farm on which she died.....All of the living children were present at the funeral, and mingled their tears over the grave of a beloved mother, who was gathered to her final home like a fruit fully ripe.
