BROOKLINE, Mass. and FORT KENT - Marilyn E. (Goldman) Etscovitz, 75, of Brookline, Mass., and formerly of Fort Kent, died Aug. 7, 2005, in Reading, Mass. She was born July 8, 1930, in Lowell, Mass., and grew up in Lewiston, and later attended the University of Maine, where she was awarded a Phi Beta Kappa. She did volunteer work for the Northern Maine Medical Center and later became a member of the board of trustees.
She worked for the American Red Cross as Manager of the St. John Valley Branch, St. John Valley ASSIST Coordinator, St. John Valley PATCH Co-chair, and HIV/AIDS educator. In 1995, she received an award for outstanding leadership in community health promotion from Maine's Division of Health and Education. She was also recognized as a finalist in the governor's award for excellence in volunteer management and received recognition for her work with the student tobacco cessation program.

Marilyn was the beloved wife of the late Harry Etscovitz; devoted mother of Nancy Ann and her husband, Philip Moll, of Bedford, Mass.; and loving "Bubbe" to her two adorable grandsons, Ira Jacob and Evan Noah Moll. Marilyn is also survived by her two brothers, Bruce A. Goldman and Alan Goldman and his wife, Kat. In addition to her family, she leaves behind many close friends in Brookline, Mass., as well as the Saint John Valley in Northern Maine.
Interment will be at Beth Israel Cemetery. (Bangor Daily News 8/9/2005)
