Rudolph Baker, age 88, of Dayton, Oregon, died Friday evening at a local nursing facility.

Rudolph was born on Oct. 24, 1922, to Grover and Emma (Randolph) Baker in Big Timber, Montana. At the age of 5, Rudolph moved with his family to Woodburn, Oregon. He graduated from Woodburn High School in 1938. In 1943 he moved to Portland, Oregon. On July 26, 1959, he married Anadele Way Hussey in Portland. In 1963 they settled in the Yamhill area, where they raised cattle.

During his earlier years he was a welder, roofer, farmer and a cannery worker. He retired in 1987. He belonged to the Palestine Masonic Lodge #141 in Portland. He loved traveling, potlucks with friends, and gardening.

He is survived by stepson, Gaylor Madsen of Flagstaff, AZ; sister, Anna Willhite of Springfield, OR; and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his spouse, Anadele; brother, Donald Baker; and sister, Mabel "Betty" Starr.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 27, 2011, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Cornwell Colonial Chapel. Graveside service will be Thursday, April 28, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Belle Passi Cemetery, Woodburn, OR. A reception will. follow at the Olheiser residence in Dayton, OR.

Survivors include his stepson, Gaylor Madsen; and sister, Anna Willhite. Visitation from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at Cornwell Colonial Chapel, Woodburn. Graveside service 11 a.m. Thursday, April 28, at Belle Passi Cemetery, followed by a reception at the Olheiser's residence in Dayton.
