Funeral services for Martha Rose Colburn will be held at the Reed- Culver Chapel on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 10;00 AM with Reverend Reece Calvert officiating. Interment will follow at the Cedar Tree Cemetery near Briggs, OK. The family will receive guests at Reed-Culver Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 26th, 2011 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM during Visitation. Pallbearers for Martha include her family, Daren Gower, Bruce Gower, Dillon LeMasters, Tommy LeMasters. Andrew Young, Ryan Young, Jeff Owen, and Garrett Clement. Martha Rose Colburn was born on January 30, 1930 in the Briggs Community east of Tahlequah, OK, the daughter of Bertie and Narcissia (Chair) Briggs. She departed this life to live eternally with her heavenly father on April 24, 2011 at the Tahlequah City Hospital with her children and grandchildren by her side. She was a retired nurse aide who worked in various nursing homes in the Tahlequah area.
Martha was of the Holiness faith and enjoyed going to church when she was able. She was currently attending the Parris Full Gospel Church north of Tahlequah. Martha had a great love for her Savior, Jesus Christ, and enjoyed telling others what he had done for her. Her children and grandchildren have many wonderful memories of Mom and Granny-Martha. She will be greatly missed. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, Dugan, Earl, and Yahola Briggs as well as one sister, Vivian Spears and her daughter, Angela Marchette Young. Martha is survived bt three sons, Jeffrey Colburn and wife Lynn of Woodall, OK, Michael Young of Tahlequah, Steven Young and his wife Tammy also of Tahlequah,OK. Her three daughters include Sharon Kay Briggs of Tahlequah, Paulette Gower and husband Jerry of Keys, OK, and Peggy Horn and husband Bill of Moody, OK. She is survived by two sisters, Verna Holstein, of Madison, WV, and Mary Ann Fritts of Tahlequah. Her legacy lives on in her grandchildren, Daren Gower, Becky LeMasters, Trisha House, Marsha Siler, Sara and Lynzee Colburn, Kimberly Owen, Andrew Young and Ryan Young, eight great-great grandchildren as well as a host of friends and loved ones.
