Richard was the son of George and Sophie (Zawadzki) Mewhorter. He was the second oldest of four boys and one girl.
He married Lorraine Fladmark and together they had seven children: twins Stanley & Sandra, James, Kathleen, Sharon, Linda, & Cynthia (Cindy).
Richard married a second time Janet (Halvorson) Goertz.
He was a truck driver most of his life, delivering gasoline for Indianhead Trucking. He built his own home and could do or repair almost anything. Dick was a very generous and loving man above all. He also served in the U. S. Army and was Fire Chief and volunteer fireman for Lexington, Minnesota.
