Alban Graham (went by Graham) Barkley was the second of four identified children (there was thought to be seven) of Henry Barkley (1777-1869) and Mary Cawthorn (c1780-c1828), who married at probably North Carolina, though it is not known when or where.
Graham married Amanda Louisa Girand (1830-1899) in Oct 1850 at Christian County, Kentucky. Graham and Amanda were the parents of seven known children, namely:

2. John Wilson Barkley (1854–1932)
3. James Cushman Barkley (1856–1899)
4. William Graham Barkley (1858–1935)
5. Andrew McKenzie Barkley (1861–1914)
