Near Republic, on Saturday, October 22, 1870, Mrs. Ann Chittenden, wife of Johnson Chittenden. of this township, aged 51 years and 8 months.
The deceased was a daughter of Henry McCartney, one of the pioneers of the township, and was born in Seneca county, N. Y., and with her parents came here in the year 1829, where she resided till her death. Consumption long since began the work which has just been consummated. The Universalist church was filled to excess on the occasion of her funeral on Sunday afternoon. Rev. H. Bromley conducted the services.
