She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was born in Hawkins County, and was a member of First Baptist Church, Surgoinsville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Allen Jr.; father, G.D. Alvis; brother, Walter "Pot" Alvis; and an infant daughter, Una.
She is survived by her mother, Mayme Alvis of Heritage Manor, Rogersville; two sons and daughters-in-law, H.J. and Ruby Allen, and Mikey and Patsy Allen, both of Surgoinsville; two brothers, Daryl (and Darla) Alvis, Rogersville, Frank "Rudy" (and Patti) Alvis, Surgoinsville; two sisters, Nel (and Roy) Fama, and Maxine Epps, all of Richmond, VA; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Alvis, Morristown; three grandchildren, Michael Jr (and Melissa), Jacksonia, and Dustin, all of Surgoinsville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at Colboch-Price Chapel with Rev. Steve Holt officiating. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at Hawkins County Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call 6 - 8 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service, or any time at the home, 1802 Main Street, Surgoinsville.
