Ronald "Red" M. Goodwin, 74, of Springvale, passed away on Saturday May 23, 2009, at the Maine Medical Center in Portland. He was born on June 3, 1934, the son of Edgar Goodwin and Daisy Beal Goodwin Paquette. He attended local Sanford schools.

He was a veteran having served his country in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1955. On June 13, 1964, he married the former Shirley Greims at the Springvale First Baptist Church. He retired in 1993 after many years as a tractor-trailer driver with Adams Trucking, Auclair Transportation, and Yellow Freight. He was always a member and supporter of the New England Teamsters Union.

He loved his home, family, the Red Sox, the Patriots, his dogs, and life in general. He was a content man, never wishing for more than he had, and very happy to be at home with loved ones. He took pride and care in all he had including his family. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Springvale.

He is predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Shirley Cormier Goodwin of Springvale, six children, and their spouses, Paula Mansfield of Sidney, Maine, Rodney Cormier of Bethesda, MD, Claudette Minnicozzi of Sandown, NH, Scott Cormier of Springvale, ME, Kandis Goodwin of Sanford, ME, Tracy Goodwin of Natick, MA, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A Graveside service with military honors will be held on Thursday, May 28th at 11am at Riverside Cemetery in Springvale.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.
