Master Sgt. Rutilio Gavilan, husband of Bernarda Gavilan, formerly of Harlingen, Texas, now of San Antonio, was born in Havana, Cuba, August 24, 1890, and received his education in Catholic schools. At the time of his entry in the service he was a lithographer. He enlisted January 26, 1915, at New York City; assigned to Army, Infantry Division, and trained at Fort Slocum, N.Y. He has resided in Texas approximately 24 years; stationed at Ft. Ringgold almost 23 years. Retired at Camp Clairborne, La., July 31, 1945, after completing over 30 years service as an enlisted man. He and his wife and their six children reside at 1606 Lomas St., San Antonio.
