COLBERT, Okla. - Richard F. Parrish, 64, of Colbert, Oklahoma, passed away Friday afternoon April 22, 2011 at his home in the presence of his loving family.
He was born November 5, 1946 in Denison, Texas to Frazier and Margaret Bernice Everett Parrish. He started school in Denison, Texas, and moved to Colbert as a child and was a Colbert High School graduate where he lived all his life. He married Virginia Swann August 28, 1964 in Denison, Texas.
He was a service technician for Southwestern Bell Telephone in Denison for 33 years before retirement and was also retired from the Colbert Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Bonnie Bernice Keeth and brother Royce Calvin Parrish. Richard is survived by his wife Virginia Parrish and daughter Brandi Michelle Parrish and granddaughter Lauren Sage Polston, all of Colbert and Brandi's friend John Polston, goddaughters Jamie Thompson of Denison, Texas, and Dedra Clay of Sachse, Texas. Sisters Alice Clack of Gainesville, Texas, and Patsy Ruth Reeves of Brewton, Alabama. Sister-in-Law Emma Jean Parrish of Colbert. Brother-in-Law George Keeth of Antlers, Oklahoma. Special friends Merle Green of Colbert and Wanda Thompson of Denison.
A graveside service for Richard Parrish will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday morning April 26, 2011 at the Garden of Memory Cemetery in Colbert with Reverend Bill Brown officiating. Family night will be from 6-7 Monday evening at Cunningham Funeral Home in Colbert. Arrangements have been entrusted to Cunningham Funeral Home in Colbert, Oklahoma.
