Hazel Elizabeth Ard, 92, of Herrick, and formerly of Pana, died on Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at her daughter's home near Herrick.
Hazel was born January 20, 1914 near Monticello, Illinois, the daughter of Effie (Lynch) and Eli Taylor. An orphan at the age of eight, she was reared by other relatives in Piatt County. She married in 1930 and moved to a farm Northeast of Herrick in 1935.
She was an employee of the Pana Community Hospital for over twenty years, retiring in 1977. For more than thirty years she lived on Spruce Street in Pana until she was no longer able to live alone and care for herself. Her kind, generous nature made her a friend to many.
Surviving are a daughter, Jo Ann Moutrey (Mrs. George) of Herrick and three sons: L. Terry (wife Joyce) of Lakewood, Donald G. (wife Lisa) of San Antonio, Texas and Harold J. of Fort Worth, Texas. There are 11 grandchildren: Teri Ann and Mark Ard, Angela Beierle, Donna Trejo, Robert Ard, Travis Ard, DeLynne Morgason, Landon Moutrey, Shantel Parks, Tim Fisher and Tom Fisher; and seven great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, two daughters and a brother, Homer Taylor. Her smile will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Funeral Information
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 29, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at the Herrick Baptist Church with Jay Huddleston officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery, rural Herrick. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Herrick Baptist Church.
