Elwood R. Eroh
Enjoyed gardening and his family
Elwood R. Eroh, 82, of Hobbie, died Saturday morning, April 23, 2011, at the Berwick Hospital Center after a lengthy illness.
Born Jan. 22, 1929, in Springtown, Dorrance Township, he was the son of the late Raymond Harrison Eroh and Martha Mae (Eckrote) Eroh. He worked for Barletta Materials and Construction, both at the Hazleton and Nescopeck plants, for close to 60 years.
He enjoyed gardening, repairing his own cars, old-time Western and war movies, playing games and spending time with his family.
Mr. Eroh was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Hobbie, his entire life.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy W. (Pierce) Eroh, in 2004; an infant son, Elwood Raymond Eroh Jr.; and a brother, Harold Eroh.
Elwood was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother.
Surviving are his three daughters: Dorothea Ritter and her husband, Forrest, of Perkasie; Catherine Eroh and Susan Eroh, both of Hobbie. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Melissa Moyer and husband, Brandon, of Quakertown; and Nathan Ritter and his wife, Kristin, of Perkasie. Elwood has three great-grandchildren: Evan and Adalyn Moyer and Weston Ritter. He is also survived by a brother, Marvin Eroh and his wife, Doris.
Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26, at the McMichael & Rairigh Funeral Home, Inc., 119-121 E. Third St., Berwick. Friends may also visit with the family and pay final respects on Wednesday, April 27, from 9-10 a.m. at the St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hobbie. His funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. following the visitation hour Wednesday at the church. Pastor Rachel Dietz will officiate. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
