Alonzo was a grandson of Noble and Mary (Dunham) Curtis also buried at same cemetery. His father was Alonzo C. Curtis, the first postmaster of Dundee which he named after ancestral hometown.

His mother was Jerusha Gifford. After her death, his father remarried Elizabeth Luft also buried here. There were no children in this union.

The younger Alonzo's wife was Christina Jane Lucas.

The Sarah D. Curtis whose stone is next to Alonzo was a sister.

Alonzo died of injuries received during Civil War veteran; he had never fully recovered from them and struggled to find work as a day laborer, yet he refused to apply for pension. He felt as long as he woculd work, he did not need aid from the government. After his death, family friends persuaded his widow Jane to apply for pension.

In addition to the children listed here, Alonzo and Jane had a daughter, Carrie, who m a Ernest Ross and then a George Hammer. She was their last child, and I have not traced her further.

Also, according to a contributor, there is information at "the SUVCW has an online website for submitted Union Soldiers/Sailors at http://suvcw.org/photos.htm
