Prominent Moody Lady Buried Here
Monday Afternoon

Mrs. Dan C. Jones, nee Helon Naler, passed away in Scott & White Hospital at Temple at 8:15 Sunday evening. Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church Monday afternon at 4 o'clock with Rev. O.B. Darby in charge, and Rev. Erwin M. Gathings delivering the message. The body lay in state at the church from e until 4 o'clock. Burial was in Naler cemetery the family burial ground.

Mrs. John Williamson furnished the music at the pipe organ during this time. Mrs. Albert Williamson sang "Going Home" by Dvorak.

Mrs. Jones was born Feb 18, 1871.

Mrs. Jones was stricken ill several weeks ago while visiting her son, John C. Jones and family in Houston.

Both Mrs. Jones and her husband, the late Dan C. Jones were prominent pioneer citizens both being among the earliest families to settle in this section of the state.

Mrs. Jones was active in community affairs in her younger life, was also a musician, having at one time being a teacher of music in the Crabb Conservatory of Music in Temple.

She was born in the old rock home which still stands just west of the Naler cemetery.

She was loyal to her family and friends and her quite gentle manner won for her many friends. She was a kind loving wife and mother, loved her church and attended its services as long as her health permitted.

Survivors are her stepmother, Mrs. Myra Naler; two sons, D.F. Jones of Moody, John C. Jones of Houston; two daughters, Mrs. Erin Matthews and Miss Mary L. Jones of Moody; four grandchildren, Mrs. Johnnie Ernest of Waco, John C. Jones, Jr. and Misses Faye and Mary Lou Jones of Houston. three brothers, W.E. Naler of Birmingham, AL, J.C. and H.D. Naler of Houston, two sisters, Mrs. William Kellen and MIss Cahutta Naler of Houston.

Pallbearers were: A.E. Matthews of Dallas, Marion Herrington, Z.S. Teague, Guy W. Draper of Temple and J.W. Clements of Stephenville.

...the out of town relatives and friends attending were: Mr. and Mrs. Guy W. Draper of Temple, Mr. and Mrs. John C. Jones and Johnnie Naler of Houstong, W.E. Naler of Birmingham,AL; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Bryant of Mineral Wells, Mrs. D.W. Bagley of Amarillo, Mrs. Herschel Willis and Mrs. Nelta Walker of Eddy, Mr. and Mrs. John W. Duncan, Mr and Mrs. Bob Mitchell, Mrs. Owen Hill, Mr and Mrs. JM Rush of Waco, Mr and Mrs. J.W. Clements of Stephenville, Mrs. Maxine Hymen, Herman Naler, Mrs. William Kellen, Mrs. Lucy Lautherback, Mr. and Mrs. Early Bagley of McGregor, Mr and Mrs. John Lowery and Kenneth Matthews of Belton, and A.E.
