Elizabeth was born 15 November 1824, probably in Overton Co. TN. Her parents were James Harvey Cherry, Senr. and Delilah (Bristow) Cherry. The family moved to Illinois ca. 1830. Elizabeth married Joseph B. Steidley on 28 February 1850 in Macoupin Co. IL. It was his second marriage: his first wife was Elvira Rowland, who died in 1849, and he had a number of children with her. Elizabeth and Joseph had 4 children: Henry M. Steidley, Harriett J. "Hattie," Lafayette H., and Wilmer L. They lived in the vicinity of Palmyra, Macoupin Co.
On or about 2 January 1861, Joseph died, apparently a suicide. In June 1870 Elizabeth was living in Virdin and in June 1880 she was living in Girard, Macoupin Co. She died in Girard on March 3, 1890.
