BETTENDORF — Services for Isidore N. "Isi" Gaul, 85, of Bettendorf, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Davenport. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Davenport American Legion Post 26.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Halligan-McCabe Funeral Home, Davenport, with a vigil service at 7 p.m.

Mr. Gaul died Wednesday, March, 12, 1997, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport.

Mr. Gaul retired in 1976 as a job setter at the Rock Island Arsenal after 31 years of service.

He was born Nov. 25, 1911, in Earling, Iowa, to Peter J. and Elizabeth C. (Schechinger) Gaul. He married Madeleine L. Dessert on Dec. 5, 1942, at Sacred Heart Church, Moline.

He was a veteran of World War II and had served in the Army.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Cathedral, Davenport; a life member of the American Legion Post 26; and a life member of Disabled American Veterans of Iowa.

Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Cathedral or Genesis Visiting Nurses Association.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Judith (Mrs. Gerald) Hodgett, Eldridge, Iowa, Charlene (Mrs. Brig. Gen. David) Bice, U.S. Marine Corps., Kailua, Hawaii, Patricia (Mrs. Tom) Golden, Galena, Ill., M. Joyce (Mrs. Don) Welch, Moline, and Kathie (Mrs. Master Sgt. Terry) Dell, U.S. Army, Urbandale, Iowa; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Brenda Gaul, Bettendorf; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Adelaide (Mrs. Pete) Croghan, Panama, Iowa; brothers, Sylvester Gaul, Davenport, Ferdinand Gaul, the Rev. Cornelius Gaul and Leo Gaul, all of Earling, Francis Gaul, Longview, Wash., Peter Gaul, Melbourne, Fla., and Charles Gaul, Holt, Mo.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, the Rev. Hilary Gaul and Gerald Gaul, may they rest in peace.
