Oscar Conrad was born in Virginia and married Blanche McDaniel. He was the father of three daughters and 4 sons. Oscar found work in Baltimore as a track foreman at the Bethlehem Steel Company in Sparrows Point, Maryland.

While leaving work one day Oscar stumbled and hit his head on the handle of his car door and received first aid treatment at the company dispensary. He was sent home after feeling better, but was stricken while at the dinner table and passed away from his head injury at the age of 53.
