Dorothy Vernell Carlson

Dorothy Vernell Carlson, 87, of Burnet, died Sunday, Sept. 21 in San
Antonio. Dorothy was born on July 2, 1921, in Thrall to Alvin and Martha
(Erdmann) Balko. She was employed as a secretary for the Corpus Christi
School District for more than 30 years and enjoyed reading, sewing, playing
bridge and traveling. Dorothy was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Torgny Carlson in 1982; one
daughter, Lynda Carlson; and one sister, Adele Kautz. Dorothy is survived by
her daughter, Sharon Childers and husband Michael of Burnet; sister, Elvira
Cain of Burleson; granddaughter, Kelly Castillo and husband Stephen of Cedar
Park; and grandsons, Michael Childers and wife Kristi of Corpus Christi and
Ryan Childers and wife Melissa of San Antonio. Great-grandchildren are
Courtney, Amanda, Emily, Brooklyn, Ava, and Jacob. She is also survived by
several nieces and nephews. Funeral service is Thursday, Sept. 25 at 10 a.m.
at the First Lutheran Church in Burnet, with Pastor Richard Bremer
officiating. Burial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26 at
Seaside Memorial Park in Corpus Christi. Memorials may be made to your
favorite charity or organization. Funeral arrangements under the direction
of Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home of Burnet
