Logan Everhart ANTLE
Sex: M
Name: E. Logan ANTLE
Birth: 1 OCT 1844 in Russell Co., KY
Death: 14 JUN 1923 in Eureka Springs, AR
Burial: Eureka Springs, AR

Father: Jacob Fox ANTLE b: 15 MAR 1813 in Adair Co., KY
Mother: Sarah STEEP b: 12 APR 1816 in Casey Co., KY

Note:
Had 3 wives. Different children with each wife, so not sure which children belong with which wives.

They also raised a colored boy whose name was, John. He was very fond of his "sister" Lena.

Logan was a prisoner during the civil War, somewhere in the Exeter, MO., area, but not certain where. He gave a guard a twenty dollar gold piece for a 10 cent file and sawed the chain in two that was on his leg, and made his escape. after he was discovered, started running, was shot at several times, would fall, get up, and continued this which saved his life. Then he stole a horse, clung to its side, and got away. The horse was seen, but they didn't know that Grandpa was hanging on the other side!

Also, during the Civil War, he was with some other soldiers, back of bent Smith's field, 9 miles west of Exeter, MO., in Thomas Hollow. They were resting in a small hollow, after a hard ride. all had gotten off of their horses, and wanted to stay except for Grandpa. He was begging them to go, but they refused. he was standing with one foot in the stirrup when they heard a noise, looked up, and it was the "Bush Whackers" after them. He straddled his horse and took off; the other horses followed him which left the men helpless. He got away, but all the others were killed.
