Donna Lee Adkison, 70, of Boyne City, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010, at Northern Michigan Regional Hospital surrounded by her family.
Donna was born June 21, 1940, in Concord, Mass, the daughter of Myron and Margaret Murdock, She was raised in Concord and graduated from Maynard High School.
On Sept. 14, 1966 Donna married David J. Adkison.
As a military wife, Donna was mostly a full-time mother, but found the time to take college courses wherever she was.
Donna loved technology and her first computer technology class was taken in 1968. Other passions were psychology and biological science.
Prior to David's retirement from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at McDill Air Force base in Florida. She loved her work there protecting the wetlands and eventually retired from the position.
Donna loved looking into her ancestry and was very proud of her Irish/Scottish heritage. She was also enjoyed the outdoors and loved "waking up to the birds" every morning.
Donna is survived by her son, Daniel T. (Christine) Adkison, Sr; daughter, Deanna L. Palmer; five grandchildren, Stacy M. Adkison, Daniel T. (Rosalyn) Adkison Jr., Kathleen M. Adkison, Ashley N. Adkison and Kournie L. Adkison; eight great-grandchildren, Cade Miller, Javen Miller, Elizabeth Todd, Charlotte Todd, Jaxx Todd, Cass Todd, Deegan Anthony and Hailynn Anthony.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Myron "Sonny" Murdock and very special friend James Ellis.
