The funeral for Carmen Campbell, 95, of Lanesboro, will be Saturday, April 23, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lanesboro, with Rev. Kerry Eversole officiating. Burial will be in the Lanesboro Cemetery.
Mr. Campbell passed away Monday, April 18, 2011, at the Harmony Healthcare Nursing Home in Harmony.
Carmen Ray Campbell was born on Oct. 22, 1915, in LaCrosse, Wis., to James and Isabelle (Hanson) Campbell. He attended Lanesboro High School. He had lived in LaCrosse, Lanesboro, and St. Paul for 33 years, then back to Lanesboro in 2005. On Aug. 27, 1941, he married Juliet Olson in Lanesboro. Carmen worked for the Civilian Conservation Corp. in Camp #709 F6 in Grand Marais, on the Gun Flint Trail on the Northern Light Lake from 1933 until 1935, Lanesboro Light and Power Company, was a painter and wall paper hanger, worked at Arden Hills Ammunitions Plant, and also worked as a custodian at the Lanesboro School.
He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching the sunset and loons from his cabin dock; he also enjoyed looking for ginseng, golden seal, and bloodroot.
Survivors include his wife (of 69 years) Juliet of Lanesboro; two sons, David (Barbara) Campbell of Lanesboro and Gary (Nancy) Campbell of Oronoco; four grandchildren, Desirae (Richard) Hahn, Lance (Leah) Campbell, Andrew Campbell and Kaitlyn Campbell; six great-grandchildren, Hope Hahn, Travis Hahn, Nicholas Hahn, Norah Campbell, Elise Campbell, and Keaton Campbell. Carmen was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Gordon and Robert and twin sisters, Mildred Conlan and Margaret Kruegel.
Visitation will be one hour before the service on Saturday, April 23, 2011, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
