Eva C. Burton, 88, of Parkersburg, passed away Feb. 7, 2009, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

She was born Aug. 14, 1920, in Calhoun County, W.Va., one of 10 children of the late Lon and May Downs Powell.

She retired from the Wood County Board of Education, where she had worked in the Food Service Department for several years. She was a member of Seventh Street United Methodist Church.

Eva was a loving mother and grandmother and is survived by her daughter, Debra Foutty of Vienna; three grandchildren, David H. Foutty Jr. of Omaha, Neb., Megan Foutty of Vienna and Stephanie Foutty-Bonnot and husband, Guillaume, of Bluefield, W.Va.; and sister, Amy Hathaway of Lost Creek, W.Va.

In addition to her parents, Eva was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Richard C. Burton who passed away in 2005; son-in-law, David H. Foutty Sr.; and eight brothers and sisters, Shirley McKown, Virla Poling, Paul Powell, Rue Powell, Lucille Wilmoth, William Gail Powell, Emmaneal Montgomery and Victor Powell.

The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Kathryn Ambler and the Rev. L. Norman Butler officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

The family has requested memorials be made in Eva's memory to the Seventh Street United Methodist Church, 1801 E. Seventh St., Parkersburg, WV 26101.
