KEARNEY, Mo. — Medford Barr Hardesty, 95, Kearney, passed away April 14, 2011. Medford was born December 8, 1915, to Frank and Carrie (Breckenridge) McFall. She was a graduate of Smithville High School and Northwest Missouri State College.

She married David Barr on May 24, 1941. They made their home in Kearney, where she taught first grade for many years. David preceded her in death on April 29, 1956. She later married Elea Hardesty and moved to Weston, Mo. He also preceded her in death on February 20, 1971.

Medford was a member of the Weston Christian Church, where she was very active and a member of the C.W.F. She was a member of the Kearney Bridge Club, the Weston Book Club, and the Weston Study Club. She enjoyed hosting family dinners, sewing, and especially loved all dogs. She presented book reviews all over the Northwest Missouri.

She is survived by her son, Gerry Barr of Kearney; and daughter, Betsy and husband, Louis Klesath, of Savannah, Mo. She is also survived by her sister, Bonnie Johnson, of Maryville, Mo.; grandchildren, Molly (Andy) Spiegel, Terry (Becky) Barr, and Jason (Laura) Barr; her great-grandchildren, Claire, Grant, Michael, Mason, Jack and Emily; step-children, Sharon Kay Croskey, and Roger Hardesty; her step-grandchildren, Stacy Croskey, Adam (Becki) Croskey, and Shawna (Matt) Cromer; and five step-great-grandchildren.

A private burial service has been held. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 30, at 11 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Kearney. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. prior to the service.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Friends of the Animal Shelter, 701 Lower Lake Rd., St. Joseph, MO 64504, or the First Christian Church, 2151 S. Jefferson, Kearney, MO 64060.
