James Stapleton
Mediapolis - James Stapleton died at his home in Mediapolis after an extended illness.
He and his wife had recently moved into town from the farm.
Stapleton was a life resident of Des Moines County. He was born in Benton township on Nov. 10, 1866, and on May 22, 1902, was married to Hattie Tee.
Stapleton was a member of St. Mary Catholic church, near Kingston.
In addition to the widow, he is survived by 3 daughters; Mrs. Rex McChesney, Mason City, and Mrs. Henry Niehaus and Mrs. Dale McNamee, both of Medipolis, and a brother, Frank Stapleton, of Burlington.
There are 8 grandchildren.
Three brothers and 2 sisters died previously.
Last rites will be held at St. Mary churchat 9 a.m. Monday, with burial in the adjacent cemetery.
The body is at the Fry chapel, where the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Sunday.
