Cooper, as a child, grew up near Snowball, Arkansas. His family moved to Bixby, Oklahoma, before settling in Locust Grove in 1939. He attended schools in Bixby and Locust Grove. He also served a short stint in the United States Navy.
Cooper loved to go fishing and be outdoors. He was very patriotic and a devoted Democrat. He was a master at gardening that produced a very beautiful garden. Cooper had also gone on several rattlesnake hunts.
He was a very good and patriotic man. He talked about hearing many sermons and having conversations about Christ's love for us with the Late Reverend Bill Grass. Farming was his passion, where he raised cattle and grew alfalfa hay. Cooper was also known for his love of his dogs. He will be missed by all that knew him.

Cooper was preceded in death by: his parents; 4 brothers: Page Campbell, John Campbell, Henry Campbell, and David Campbell; and 4 sisters: Mae Steen, Inez Torbett, Lois Rapoport, and Lorie Campbell.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Monday, April 25, 2011, at the United Method Church in Locust Grove, Oklahoma. Reverend Sydney Tillery will officiate. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Pryor, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to the Locust Grove Funeral Home.
Visitation: Sunday, April 24, 2011, 1:00 P.M. unitl 9:00 P.M.
