Elva Viola Alexander was born on Dec. 6, 1920 to Locia and William Herridge and went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010 at the age of 89. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend. She was known as a loving woman with a wonderful sense of humor, a heart of compassion and generosity that was unsurpassed. She always put other people first and her theme in life was to "give the world a smile" which she did every day. She was devoted to her family and leaves them with a lifetime of wonderful memories. On Jan. 5, 2007 she lost Pete Alexander, the love of her life and husband of 68 years. Pete and Elva lived in San Antonio for forty-five years before retiring in Tow, Texas. In 2008, Elva moved to Plano and lived there until the Lord called her home.
Elva is survived by daughters Roxie and husband Jerry of Tow, Tammy and husband Loren of Plano; sons Rodney and wife Sylvia of San Antonio, Daryl of San Antonio, Terry and wife Kathy of San Antonio, 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren eight great, great, grandchildren, two brothers; Douglas Carl Herridge and numerous nieces and nephews.
Elva was preceded in death by her husband Herman "Pete" Alexander, father William, mother Locia, one sister and four brothers.
Funeral services were Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010 at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Tow with Reverend Jerald Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Tow Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements made under the direction of Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Homes, Inc. Llano, Texas.
