Christena Shepmire Rath was born in Luxemburg, Germany, May 17, 1839 and departed this life Oct. 12, 1926, aged 87 years, 4 months and 25 days at the home of her son F.R. Rath, Bryan, Ohio. She was baptized in infancy. At the age of 9 she came to America together with her parents. She was united in marriage with Michael Rath, Dec. 8, 1861, who de¬parted this life Jan. 14, 1920, after nearly 60 years of wedded life. To this union were born six children: one daughter and five sons, Mary, George, Samuel, Albert, Fred and Charles. Two sons have preceded their mother to the Great Beyond. George and Albert. She leaves to mourn her departure, four children, Samuel, Fred and Charles Rath, and Mary Hoffman, all of Bryan, 20 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, a half-sister, Mrs. Mary Justice, Stryker, Ohio, and a host of other relatives and friends.
