Mrs. Johnson Rites Were at Fort Cobb 2:30 P.M. Tuesday
Services for Mrs. Arthur Johnson, 50, for many years a resident of the Oak Grove community north of Fort Cobb, were at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Harvey chapel in Fort Cobb. Walter Teel, Church of Christ minister of Mountain View, preached the funeral. Mrs. Johnson died in a Chickasha hospital. She had been in poor health a
number of years and the past year had undergone three major operations.
Willie Mae Bandy was born at Paoli, Okla., April 15, 1899. She was married to James Arthur Johnson Jan. 16, 1916, at Mountain Park. They moved to the Oak Grove community about 1917 and lived there until 1945 when they moved to a farm near Chickasha. After two years, because of Mrs. Johnson's health, they moved to Chickasha.
Survivors are the husband, Arthur Johnson; three daughters, Mrs. Irene Johnson of Carnegie; Mrs. Bill Banks, Shafter, Calif.; and Mrs. I.E. Evans, Bakersfield,
Calif.; two sons, Carlis Johnson, Wichita, Kan., and Calvin Johnson, Oklahoma City; three brothers, O.E. Meek, Mountain View; G.C. Meek, Kaw City; and J.W. Bandy of Fort Cobb; and two sisters, Mrs. Wash Garrett, Kaw City, and Mrs. G.R. Housley, Berkley, Calif. All were present at the time of death except the two sisters.
Others from a distance here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. E.R. Taffer and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Slayton, Terrell, Texas, and Claude Johnson and J.E. Johnson, Apache.
