Moroni Coleman
(1)Jemima Price Coleman
(2) Margaret Elizabeth Meacham (Garrard) (Tolman) Coleman

A young couple on their way to Utah with a group of Mormons, stopped over at Hancock, Illinois (the family group sheet lists Council Bluffs, Iowa) where a baby, Moroni, Joined their family on 31 May 1844. The young couple were George Coleman and Mary Reeves.
George Coleman and Joseph Godfrey were dear friends and when lots were drawn for members of the Mormon Battalion George drew the "short stick". When he left little did Mary know that it would be the last time she would see him, as he died from exposure to the cold and sickness while on the march.
Joseph Godfrey helped Mary Coleman and young Moroni get to Salt Lake City, Utah and she later became Joseph's second wife and lived in North Ogden, Utah. Ormus Bates, an uncle, took young Moroni to live with his family, while his mother went out to work. He stayed with them until he was sixteen years old, then he went out on his own.
Moroni when to Park Valley, Utah with George Godfrey, where they stayed for some time, working at whatever they could.
In a few years, Moroni came to North Ogden, where he met and married Jemima Price 1 February 1866.
Jemima Price was the daughter of Jeremiah Price and Jane Morgan, a young couple who emigrated to Utah to be with the Saints. Jemima was born 18 February 1848 at Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorganshire, Wales. While in North Ogden, six children were born to Moroni and Jemima. They were: Mary Jane 1867, George Moroni 1868, Theodore 1872, Sarah Emily 1874, Alvero 1876, and John LeRoy 1879.
About this time Moroni's mother, Mary, received quite a sum of money from her brother, James Reeves, with this she bought some cattle for Moroni to take care of. As there was little range land in North Ogden, the family moved out to Park Valley, Utah where there was plenty of open range.
While in Park Valley, four more children were born: Joseph Ether 1882, a still-born son 1883, Cyrus 1886, and Irene 1888. While there he also took another wife, Margaret Elizabeth Meacham, who he married 29 January 1886 at Logan, Utah.
Margaret was born 27 March 1862 at Fairview, Sanpete County, Utah a daughter of Erastus Darwin Meacham and Martha Jones. She married William M. Garrard 10 October 1882 but later divorced him. She then married a Mr. Tolman by whom she had a son. When she married Moroni she was listed as a widow with a son.
To the marriage of Moroni and Elizabeth three children were born: Bertram Arnold 1887, Ettie May 1890, and Luella 1898.
In the year 1888, the cattle rustling became so bad that Moroni lost most of his cattle so they moved into Wyoming in a little town called Smoot. Here two more children were born to Moroni and Jemima. They were Laverna 1891, and Clarence Lee 1894.
The church was encouraging people to move into Canada and help settle it and because two of Moroni's sons were living there, he and the rest of the families moved there in 1903, settling in a town called Magrath.
Moroni and his sons got jobs hauling grain and other things.
Jemima was a midwife in the early days and was always helping someone, she never refused to help anyone as long as she was able. She had a lovely voice and she loved to sing, especially the old Welch songs. Moroni was the Health Officer and during the "Flu" epidemic he would go around the town seeing to the needs of the sick.
Moroni died at Magrath, Canada 9 May 1924 and was buried there.
Jemima lived 14 ½ years longer dying on 2 December 1939 at Magrath where she was buried. She was 89 years old.
