The family moved to Redlands, California where Orrin's father taught math at the University of Redlands. Orrin graduated from high school and the University of Redlands with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Most of his adult life, Orrin worked for the U.S. Navy as a civilian mechanical engineer. His first job was with Lockheed Aircraft; which later led to his work with sonar and torpedoes for the U.S. Navy. Orrin also did some work related to the atomic bomb.
In the 1970's Orrin was married to Virginia Olson and the couple made their home in California.
Orrin was always active in his church, where he sang in choirs and especially loved choral music. "His love of music was like a chord (cord) that tied him to the things of God that touch us very deeply"! His favorite hymn was "Dear Lord and Father of Mankind".
Orrin died March 21, 2011 in Escondido, California at the age of 91 years and 11 months.
Orrin is survived by his daughter Kathy (Dave) Reid of Temple City, California; son Mike (Jeannette) Albert of Milpitas, CA and one granddaughter Dawn Reid of Pasadena, CA.
Orrin Albert is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Virginia Olson-Albert and his brother Don Albert.
Rev. Laurie O'Shea will officiate at a memorial service; 11:00 a.m. Wednesday April 27, 2011 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rush City, MN.
A time of visitation is planned for one hour prior to the service.
The inurment will be in the First Lutheran Cemetery in Rush City, MN.
