He leaves his wife of 52 years, Patricia A. (Fitzgerald) Brochu; five sons, David W. Brochu of Old Orchard Beach, Maine, Michael T. Brochu of Northbridge, Steven D. Brochu of Milford, Timothy P. Brochu of Upton and Jeffrey K. Brochu of Utah; a daughter, Patricia A. Baker of the Whitinsville section of Northbridge; 14 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; nephews and nieces. A brother, Robert L. Brochu, predeceased him.
He was born in Attleboro, son of Donat O. and Eva A. (Gobin) Brochu, and lived 65 years in Northbridge. He was educated in Northbridge public schools.
Mr. Brochu was a driver for Knights Limousine, Grafton, for 17 years, retiring in 2001. Previously, he was an in-service training program instructor at Westboro State Hospital and captain of plant security at Whitin Machine Works/ATF Davidson Co., Whitinsville.
He was a founding member and past president of Northbridge High School Booster Club; a member of the Southern Massachusetts Police Association, National Association of Chiefs of Police, American Society of Industrial Security and St. Patrick's Church; a former president of ATF Davidson Management Club; and a third-degree member of Mumford Council 365 Knights of Columbus, Whitinsville. He enjoyed bowling and the beach.
The funeral was held Wednesday, Oct.23,2002 from Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St., Whitinsville, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, Cross Street.
Burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
