Stanley J. Shepherd, 95, of Smithville, MO passed away Friday, July 10, 2009 at Garden Valley Manor in Kansas City, MO.
He was born on July 9, 1914 to Jesse and Margaret Pearl "Maggie" (Stanley) Shepherd in Smithville, MO where he grew up and graduated from Smithville High School.
On August 31, 1935 Stanley married his best friend and the love of his life, Dorothy Hard Rhoads. Stanley devoted his life to farming and his family in Smithville.
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Eugene Shepherd and daughter, Peggy Jensen.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 73 years Dorothy; daughter, Donna Hudlemeyer, Smithville, MO, son-in-law, Don Jensen, Kansas City, MO; four grandchildren Danny Hudlemeyer and Stacey Hudlemeyer, Mike Dixon and wife, Vicki, Pat Dixon and wife, Shelia; six great-grandchildren, Valisha Smith and husband Allan, Travis Dixon, Brandon Dixon, Jamie Dixon, Aaron Heard and Christopher Hudlemeyer; one great-great-granddaughter, Gracie Smith, other relatives and many friends.
He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 12th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville with visitation from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
