Mrs. Catharine Comfort, widow of Peter Comfort, died at her home on Baltimore Street, about 12:00 Saturday night from the effects of grip, aged 85 years, 3 months and 3 days.
Deceased was an estimable lady who spent her entire life in Adams County, having been born in Highland township, and for more than 30 years has lived in Gettysburg. She was a sister of Mrs. Maria Comfort who died a few weeks ago. They were daughters of Daniel Mickley and both married brothers. She was the mother of seven children, two sons being dead. The living are Mrs. Sarah Heintzelman, Mrs. Hanson Pieffer and M G Comfort, of this place; Mrs. Georgiana Stover, of Pine Grove; Mrs. Jacob Deardorff, of Cashtown.
Mrs. Comfort was one of 14 children, two of whom survive her. They are Charles and Augustus Mickley, both of near Cashtown.
The funeral was held yesterday morning, short services being conducted by her pastor Rev. A. R. Steck, at her late residence after which the remains were taken to Flohr's church where further services were conducted by Rev. D. T. Koser.
