Elmer E. Ables, 72, Topeka, died Friday, January 24, 2003, at a Topeka hospital.


Mr. Ables owned and operated Ables Fence Contractor Co. in Topeka.


He was born June 19, 1930, in Topeka, to Earnst E. and Fleta Stackhouse Ables.


He attended Seaman High School and was a lifelong Topeka resident.


Mr. Ables was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge No. 555 in North Topeka and the Potawatomi Indian Tribe in Shawnee, Okla.


He married Betty J. Bullock on December 18, 1959, in Topeka. She survives.


Other survivors include two sons, Elmer Ables Jr., Topeka, Ramoin Ables, address unavailable; a daughter, Ramona Pinder, Sharon, Wyoming; his mother, Fleta Ables, Topeka; two brothers, Eugene Ables, address unavailable, and Emmett Ables, Topeka; four granddaughters; and two great-granddaughters.


Mr. Ables was cremated. No services are scheduled.


Inurnment at Keene Cemetery west of Dover will be at a later date.


Davidson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
