Lloyd Charles Compton, 88, was born Nov. 1, 1921, the son of Claude and Bessie (Jones) Compton. He died Oct. 15, 2010, at St. John's Hospital, Springfield.
Burial was in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery near Fair Grove.

He worked at Berry Seed Company in the 1950s when he met Joan Hawhee, and they were married on Sept. 7, 1951. Born of this union were Jimmy in 1953, Jayne in 1957, and Lori in 1968.
They moved to Buffalo in 1974 where he farmed and worked at Zenith and then retired in 1978. He continued to work on the farm until 2006 and loved watching the family grow and going to church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers: Roy and Boyd; a sister, Ellen; and two great-grandsons.
Survivors include his wife, Joan; his children: Danny and Julaine Compton, Ruth Ann and husband, A.J. Meades, Jimmy and wife, Elizabeth Compton, Jayne and Randy Ray, Lori and husband, Jack Stockton; 22 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; friends and family; two foster children: Shannon Gronniger and Chuck Halls; three brothers: Floyd Compton and Doris, Gene Compton and Dorothy, and Willie Compton; and one sister, Cleva Middleton.
