Samuel Allison of Hamiltonban township died on March 3 from cancer aged about 65 years. He was a member of James Dixon Post No 83, G. A. R. of Fairfield. The funeral took place on Sunday of last week, the Post attending in a body and conducting services at Cemetery, interment being at Flohr’s Church.
In 1860, he was a farmer living in Mountjoy Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania, and stood 5' 7" tall with black hair and gray eyes.
A Civil War veteran, he first enlisted in Gettysburg with Warren's (Fulweiler's) Independent Cavalry Militia, and honorably discharged with his company November 30, 1864. He then enlisted in Gettysburg February 17, 1865, mustered into federal service at Harrisburg March 1 as a private with the 103rd Pennsylvania Infantry in the second organization of Co. A, and honorably discharged with his company June 25, 1865, at New Berne, North Carolina.
He married widow Mary Emeline Hampton, née Forney, August 28, 1890, in Franklin Township, Adams County. In 1890, he lived in Cumberland Township, Adams County, but died from cancer at his home in Hamiltonban Township.
