Ada Pearl Marr, 91, of Manhattan, Kansas, passed away, on Tuesday, April 19, 2011.
Ada Pearl Murphy was born on a farm near Ashland, Missouri on December 23, 1919, the daughter of the late Lillie (Stewart) Murphy and Arthur Murphy.

Ada graduated from Ashland High School, Ashland, Misouri in 1947, and received her Bachelors degree at the University of Missouri in Business Education. On May 28, 1949 in Columbia, MO she was united in marriage to John Maurice Marr, who survives of the home.

Ada was a homemaker and mother, but taught school in Ironton, Missouri for a year, she later became the executive secretary for the President of Fulton-Silfon Co. in Knoxville, TN for 2 years while John was earning his PhD in Knoxville in 1953. Shortly after John received his PhD, they moved to Manhattan where she became a member of the First Christian Church, P.E.O. Chapter BD, Town and Country Garden Club, Needlecraft, Kansas State University Social Club and Kappa Alpha Theta Alumni Sorority.

Ada is survived by her husband of the home, a daughter, Marcia Cheavens Geraci, wife of Ron, Norwood, GA, a son Steven Kevin Marr, husband of Eloise, St. Charles, MO; three grandchildren, Erin Kristin Marr, Jamison J. Marr, Debra Ellen Schmidt; and two great grandchildren, Brannon and Mason Schmidt. Ada was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers and a sister.
A funeral service will be at 11:00am on Monday April 25 at the Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home with Senior Pastor Paul J. Allen IV officiating, the family will receive friends at 10:00am until the service time. Interment will follow on Tuesday April 26, 2011 at 2:00pm in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Sedalia, Missouri.

The family suggest memorial contributions to the P.E.O. Chapter BD, and may be sent incare of Irvin-Parkview funeral Home.
