Amos Adair was born October 3, 1894 to Cicero and Dorthula Daniel Adair in Paulding County, Georgia. He married and had a daughter named Jessie Mae in Georgia and was a veteran of World War I.

After he got home from the war, he moved to Winston County, Alabama, where he met and married Lodie Woodard Johnson, who had two small sons named Carl and Winfred.

They had four more children named Mancel, Leon, Blanton and Barbara Ann Adair James.
