EUGENE P. DOUGLAS, 85, died at 3:50 p.m. March 14, 2006, at Lima Memorial Health System.

He was born Nov. 14, 1920, in Bath Township to Carl R. and Clara A. Mowery Douglass, who preceded him in death. On March 16, 1972, he married Sue Carolyn Nixon, who survives.

Mr. Douglas retired in 1984 as a welder from Westinghouse Electric Corp. He had been a route driver for Hefner Dairy in the early 1960s and a pharmaceutical salesman in the late 1960s. He was a member of Indian Lake Community Church for more that 30 years. He was a member of IUE Local 724, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 157, Kenton, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8445, Wapakoneta, the Tri-State Gun Club and the National Rifle Association. He was a 32nd degree member of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton and a member of Lodge 585 Free & Accepted Masons. He was a 1938 graduate of Lima South High School. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors also include a son, Steven B. (Sharren) Douglas of Lima; two stepdaughters, Donna S. (Bill) Ingram and Angela M. (Kerry) Neal, both of Austin, Texas; a sister, Rosemary (Peach) Krimblebine of Kenton; five stepgrandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Williams Douglas; a brother, Raymond R. Douglass; and a sister, Jeanette Hyland.

Services will begin at noon today at Chiles & Sons-Laman Funeral Homes, Shawnee Chapel. The Rev. John Ellington will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, with military rites by VFW Post 1275.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of services today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Auglaize County Council on Aging or the Kidney Foundation.
