Obituary has the name spelled "Kettle"; however, the correct spelling is "Kittle".John Henry Kettle was born on February 8, 1853 at Rochester, New York and died at his home in Charles City on November 22, 1926, aged 73 years, 9 months, and 14 days.

Mr. Kettle moved with his parents to Cherry Valley, Ill., early in life, where he lived until about 30 years ago, when he came to this locality, where he has resided since.

He farmed for several years, also engaged in dairying, and his last work was that of market gardening, which he carried on quite successfully, adding to it the manufacture of horse radish for the general market. This business he maintained as long as his health would permit.

He was a man of jovial nature and in his early life was affiliated with several of the fraternal organizations. One of the last of these that he met with was the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.

He was a kind of considerate as a husband, neighbor & friend, ever ready to make reasonable sacrifice for those who might appeal to him for assistance.

Mr. Kettle has been a great sufferer for several months and death came as a relief to the tired and work body. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife and one sister, Mrs. Margaret Brill of Floyd, Ia.

Funeral services were held at the Lindaman Funeral Home Wednesday, November 24th at 2 o'clock. Conducted by Rev. G.A. Hess, with burial at the Floyd Cemetery, Floyd, Iowa.
