Edward Donald Webb

Ed Webb passed away on February 23, 2011 in Alamogordo. He was born on December 31, 1920 to Frank and Marybell Webb in Drumright, OK.

He graduated from Drumright High School in 1938. Ed married Jayne Moore on May 31, 1941 in Shawnee, OK. The couple resided in Garden City, KS, following his service in the Army from 1942-46. They moved to Alamogordo in 1954. Both of them retired from the Alamogordo Daily News in 1983. Ed founded Columbia Silver Recovery in 1984.

Ed was a charter member of both First Southern Baptist Church in Garden City and Calvary Baptist Church in Alamogordo. At Calvary, he served as Sunday School superintendent, deacon and treasurer. As a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Alamogordo, he served as a deacon, teacher, treasurer and on various church committees. Ed served one term as New Mexico State Brotherhood president.

Ed is survived by son Paul (and Ruth) of Glenn Heights, TX, and daughter Debi (and Clyde) Harper of San Antonio, TX. He is also survived by five grandchildren and one great-grandchild: Darla (and Robin) Williams of Wales, UK; Brian (and wife Crystal and daughter Hailey) Webb of Llano, TX; Preston Webb of College Station, TX; and Donald Webb and Spenser Webb of Alamogordo. Survivors also include his brother, Dick Webb of Oklahoma City, OK, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Jayne; son, Tim; twin sister, Edwina; and nine other brothers and sisters.

The family will receive visitors from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m., Monday, February 28,2011 at Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home (1334 N. Scenic Drive). Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at FBC Alamogordo (1100 Michigan Avenue). Interment will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Joe Trujillo, Jim Aarons, Gary Black, Clarke Vaughn, Allen Campbell and Dickie Harshey.

If desired, memorials may be sent to New Mexico Baptist Children's Home, P.O. Box 629 Portales, NM 88130, or the Celebrate Recovery program of FBC Alamogordo.

The Webb family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the funeral arrangements.
