A. L. Sampson, Died Thursday Evening at 9:45 p.m.

The citizens of Bosworth were deeply grieved Friday morning when they learned that death had claimed A. L. Sampson at 9:45 p.m. Thursday evening. Known as "Andy" to everyone, Mr. Sampson was one of the best known and most beloved citizens of this section of the county and the entire community has indeed suffered a great loss with his passing.
Although in poor health for more than a year he had been bedfast only a few days. On May 16, 1937, he suffered a light stroke of paralysis while he and Mrs. Sampson were visiting at the home of their daughter, Mrs. August Koch and Mr. Koch at Boonville, Mo. Recovering sufficiently he started home and suffered another stroke near Grand Pass, Mo. He was able to bring his car to a stop but had to be aided in getting out of it. He never fully recovered from this stroke, his left arm and leg being partially paralyzed. However, he recovered sufficiently to get around the house with a little help and was able to be brought down town several times.
He enjoyed having company and never lost his ability to joke with the many friends who came to see him from time to time. The past few weeks he had grown steadily weaker, and Monday night suffered another stroke from which he never regained consciousness.
Occasionally a man crosses our path that causes us to sit back and wonder if after all this world is such a bad place in which to live, such a man was Andy Sampson. His sense of honesty and fair dealing was such as few of us in these modern times possess. He indeed lived by the Golden Rule. His friends are numbered by his acquaintances for to know him was to love and respect him.
A. L. Sampson was born September 27, 1864, and passed away at his home in Bosworth, Mo., September 22, 1938. He would have celebrated his 74th birthday on next Tuesday. He married Miss Abbie Finley and to his union four children were born. They spent the early part of their married life on farms near Bosworth, coming to town several years ago where he was engaged in the trucking business until the time of his illness.
He is survived by his wife and the following children: Mrs. H. O. Frieben of Sweet Springs, Mo.; James Wesley and William H., both of Marshall, Mo., and Mrs. August Koch of Boonville, Mo. He is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Nancy E. Miller, 95 years of age, of Saline County, Mo., and who came to see him Thursday, and also by several grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed and will be announced later.
