Arloa A. Fittje, 76, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Monday, April 18, 2011, at the Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, Nebraska.
The funeral service will be held 10:30 AM Friday, April 22, at St John's Lutheran Church (14 miles North, 39452 205th Ave) with Rev. Brad Birtell officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 3 PM to 7 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Friday one hour prior to the service at church, with a family prayer service at 10:15 AM.
Arloa was born on April 16, 1935, in rural Platte County to Oscar and Martha (Otte) Bakenhus. She attended rural Platte County school and Christ Lutheran Grade School. Arloa graduated from Kramer High School in 1952. She worked at NPPD until her marriage to Loren Fittje on July 27, 1969, at Christ Lutheran Church. They made their home on a farm east of Tarnov. Arloa was an active member of St John's Lutheran Church, was a member of an extension club, and she was a good helper on the farm. They moved into Columbus in the fall of 2000.
