Carl married Leonora Jensen on June 19, 1942, in Monmouth, Oregon at Lenora's parent's home. Both served in World War II. After the war, they settled in Corvallis, O where they received degrees from Oregon State University. Carl became a member of the faculty n the Department of Fisheries and Wildlife while Leonora worked as the personnel secretary for the department. Two children are Nancy Bond Hemming and Judith Bond Gordon.
