Services will be conducted at 1 pm Thursday at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, for Hugh Bowman, 72, Greencastle. Mr. Bowman passed away Sunday afternoon at the Morgan County Hospital, Martinsville. Rev. Charles Rains will officiate with burial in Forest Hill Cemetery.

He was born May 25, 1911 at Ladoga, the son of Martin O. and Catherine (Alvord) Bowman. On Nov. 21, 1931, he married the former Mildred Lewis, and she survives. Mr. Bowman was retired from the Detroit Diesel Allison Division of General Motors, Indianapolis. He was active in activities at the Putnam County Senior Center and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. He was a member of the Living Word Chapel, Indianapolis, VFW Post 1550, the American Legion and the Putnam County Historical Society.

In addition to the wife, survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Edwin (Shirley) Moore, Sharpsville, Ind.; two sons, Dallas Bowman, Paragon, and Dale Bowman, Needville, Texas; three sisters, Eva Ash, Coatesville, and Wilma Hamm and Geneva Welch, both of Terre Haute; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
